Jack Wilshere will not be included in England's World Cup squad.

Manager Gareth Southgate broke the news to the Arsenal star on Tuesday morning with a phone call.

Sportsmail revealed last week the midfielder would be named in Gareth Southgate's 35-man squad, which was submitted to FIFA on Monday.

But the Arsenal midfielder has not made the final cut and will not be named in Southgate's 23-man party on Wednesday.

It is understood he will not be on the stand-by list either.

Fabian Delph is, however, set to be named in the squad following an impressive season for Manchester City.
