Asante Kotoko wrap up Ghana league title

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have won the 2011/2012 Ghana Premier League title with four matches to spare.
The Porcupine Warriors sealed the title, their first in four years over the weekend despite a 0-0 draw with visiting Berekum Arsenal at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The result moved Asante Kotoko to 56 points, 14-points clear of second-placed AshantiGold who were humbled 1-3 by Liberty Professionals in Accra.
Bitterest rivals, Hearts of Oak lost out on the chase after suffering a 0-2 loss to rising force, New Edubiase United. The Phobians have 40 points and can only dream of the runners-spot with 16-points separating them and their sworn rivals.
By the feat, Asante Kotoko, twice continental club champions take their trophy haul to 22, two more than Hearts of Oak and further cementing their status as the most successful club in the annual domestic competition.
It is the fourth time the 1970 and 1983 African champions have laid their hands on the premier league title during the last decade.
It also ends the reign of rising forces after Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea won the titles in 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons respectively.
The Porcupine Warriors will be decorated with the league trophy during a coronation match at the end of the season.
